Voter registration cards

Did you receive a new voter registration card in the mail recently? Did you look it over to see what, if anything was different? I know I didn't, I stored it and didn't think about again until my neighbor mentioned that our polling location has been changed. I pulled my card out and yes indeed my polling place has been changed. Please take a moment to pull out your card and verify your polling location.

I'm all for anything "closer to home."

I am hearing rumors that GGP is going to have a relationship with Judson College as early as the end of summer. Has anyone else hear about this?

I have not heard about this relationship. I don't understand why Judson would move any part of its campus to WD. Are they growing that fast?

This was a rumor that came up around the same time as the "ECC is moving to SHM" rumor. Humorously, if you google, you will see that it was on the Huntley neighbors blogpost last March or April..

I actually heard it from 2 different employees from 2 different retail stores in the mall last weekend. Are these people just a year behind or what?

ECC nor Judson are moving into the center nor is the mall closing. The mall employees simply do not have correct information.
The Dean of ECC confirmed this last year.
Also, read all of the information about stories that surface about GGP; POTENTIAL bankruptcy doesn't mean closing the doors; it would be Chptr 11 - re-org..just as airlines did years ago...their planes are still in the air.
The best we can do is to support our LOCAL retailers to ensure a future for SHM, and thus a large tax base for our community.

Our local retailers have priced many of us out of their establishments. I'm purchasing needed items for my family at any store that is the most affordable.

or online...

Our small, local retailers are not able to put pressure on their suppliers to increase their profits.

We still have plenty of shopping options that are local.

Ever notice the "retail repetition" that is Randall Road?

Can you imagine a time when, just like the old time sci fi movies about the future, we are all wearing the same clothes like uniforms and all diversity and uniqueness of taste is gone?

We can stay "in our own backyards" and have exactly the same mass produced junk that everyone else has. Only one thing will be missing - choice!
