How Wal-Mart Respects its Neighbors

Prince turned 50 today....So you know i am a target guy, given my affinity for the twin cities. Ever gasp for air and reflect on the great music that has flowed South from the pale folk up in Minnesota?

Prince, Replacements and Westerburg, Soul Asylum and of course Husker Du and Bobby Mould.

I am not at all pumped about Walmart but let's face facts and assess our behaviour over the last 2 years.

In May of 2006 the New York Times wrote about the possibility of East Dundee Walmart heading West...That should have pricked up our ears but we had our typical suburban blinders on and ignored the only newspaper that is considered the ink upon which it is printed.
So now we are fighting lawyers for Walmart...lawyers with a 24 month headstart.

At this point all we can hope is to hone in on our bloging skills and cut and paste photos of fertilizer pallets in a parking lot, and remind folks that that scene is our future..

one thing worth asking as i listen to New Day Rising - do you ever have an identity crisis....i have to imagine that most of us in West Dundee live in 300k homes and have between 10k - 250k in retirement funds of which there is probably a few thousand dollars worth of WalMart stock humming along.

Let's face it, we got caught flatfooted, we had a 24 month headstart and we ignored the news out of aRKANSAS. Our optiion now is to waste 90 minutes at a firestation...one of about 4 within a 600 foot radius of 72 and 31....why the hell do we have so many firestations...will Walwart hire pyros exclusively?

We all shop on randall and have been sheep for 24 months, we have earned our slaughter...
